Velero restructures executive leadership

Berlin, October 25, 2024 – As part of a structured succession process, Velero has appointed a new CEO. The company has secured Christian Mehl, an experienced leader with financial and industry expertise, to guide Velero into its next phase of profitable and sustainable growth. In addition, Velero’s Supervisory Board is engaged in promising discussions with another potential candidate for the company’s management. Both executives are expected to serve as Co-CEOs.

Christian Mehl will primarily oversee the finance division in his new role as CEO. A recognized expert in the real estate sector, Mehl brings over 20 years of relevant industry experience, including roles in real estate investment banking at UBS. He has also served as CFO and Supervisory Board member at Dawonia and held various positions at Patrizia Alternative Investments.

The Velero Supervisory Board also extends its gratitude to the previous management team — Sascha Giest, Thomas Lange, and Stefan Kube — who founded and successfully led the company to this day. They will remain active in the real estate industry as managing directors of BALANDRA Asset Management GmbH, managing a portfolio of around 2,400 residential units.

Alongside its more than 300 employees, the new management team looks forward with optimism and anticipation to the next steps in advancing the company, which currently oversees approximately 23,000 apartments across Germany.
