Our Wismarer Straße is located in the north-eastern part of the city, in a comparatively young neighborhood, although the green areas look more like a mature, long-inhabited neighborhood. The only high-rise buildings (7 storeys) are house numbers 20 and 22, which of course have an elevator and are surrounded by trees and well-kept greenery. The apartments are popular, well laid out and flooded with light through balconies, terraces or wall-high and wide windows, with wonderful views. The district is lively. The houses are spaciously arranged, separated from each other by green spaces and trees. Schools, kindergartens and, of course, groceries are in the immediate vicinity, the bus stop is practically on the doorstep and the city center or train station can be reached quickly. Some of our tenants have lived here for a long time and feel at home. Culturally and recreationally, Riesa has a lot to offer as a city on the Elbe with an old monastery and zoo, a sports center and the Sachsen Arena, an outdoor pool and the Saxon inland port.

Location

Founded as a medieval monastery complex on the Elbe, Riesa is now a "medium-sized town" - in other words, a medium-sized town with a population of around 31,000. There are certainly more beautiful and larger towns "to the right" and "to the left". The great days of a prosperous industrial town are over. But! Riesa has nothing to hide! The town's residents and councillors have realized that something is happening. They are focusing on diversity. Preserving or creating a lovable and liveable environment for the elderly and, as a top priority, offering the young a future so that they stay or come. This is the goal of city fathers and companies that urgently need skilled workers. From initiatives such as the "Demography and Care Network" to multi-generational houses and educational institutions such as the state academy with over 500 students, the vocational academy for technology and business and, of course, daycare centers and schools of all types. All linked to and geared towards local companies. Dual training - studying while working - is the magic word. Economically, the city has changed significantly with the closure of the former steelworks. A mixture of medium-sized companies and craft businesses has established itself, using existing skilled personnel and attracting new ones. The main sectors here are metalworking, electrical engineering and food production. Other employers include the Riesa Elblandklinikum with a center for traditional Chinese medicine and a socio-educational center where children's illnesses in particular are treated, as well as the German Armed Forces. The town is looking to the future with strength.
