Object description

With a population of around 500,000, the city of Duisburg is an important part of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region. The city is divided into seven districts. Many cultural sites and parks are still based on the coal and steel industry, which gives Duisburg an industrial charm, but Duisburg has not stood still in time. A good infrastructure and a wide range of leisure and cultural activities make Duisburg a city worth living in.

(as of December 31, 2023)Together with the neighboring district of Hochheide, Alt-Homberg formed the district town of Homberg (Niederrhein), which belonged to the district of Moers, from 1907 until it was incorporated into the city of Duisburg in 1975. Since its incorporation, Alt-Homberg, together with the neighboring districts of Hochheide and Baerl on the left bank of the Rhine and the Rheinhausen district to the south of Alt-Homberg, has formed the west of Duisburg.
