Velero invests in redesigning an entire housing estate

When Velero took over the “Ulmensiedlung” in July 2016, the residential complex, which is located in a green area yet close to the city center, was hidden behind grey and aged facades, incorrectly parked cars and unkempt green spaces.

Many of the tenants, quite a few of whom have been loyal to the complex since the 1970s, would like their buildings, whose advantages they value, to have the charisma back that they once moved here for.

So in 2018, after extensive planning, the redesign began. Today, in summer 2020, the picture is completely different. The buildings shine in summery colors and will also provide a friendly ambience in the darker months of the year. After parking their car in one of the 75 parking spaces created, tenants will be able to reach their apartments via freshly renovated stairwells.

Apartments that have become vacant will be completely renovated by Velero. In addition to new floors, doors, ceilings and walls, the colloquially referred to “Gelsenkirchen baroque” in the bathrooms will be removed. A lavishly refurbished bathroom with natural light welcomes you to your new home. Of the 170 residential units with their spacious 2- and 3-room apartments, 3 are still available to new tenants today.

Tenants and interested parties can contact the janitor or the landlord at the tenants’ office in the estate (Ulmenstr. 63) without having to travel long distances. The caretaker is also on site during regular office hours and can deal with tenant concerns directly.

Since Velero took over the “Ulmensiedlung” residential area with a total of 170 units in 2016, the vacancy rate has been steadily decreasing.

The property manager, which has around 10,000 residential and commercial units nationwide, has once again proven in Hagen that they are able to redesign residential complexes and thus provide tenants with a high quality of living.
