Velero invests in leisure offer

Playground Kamenz

He is the first to enter the playground every day and the last to leave it. Because Mr. H. has the keys to the adventure playground in Neschwitzer Straße in Kamenz. He himself is no longer old enough to climb on the climbing frames. His children take over this task. Mr. H. in turn ensures safety: he locks the fenced-in playground area every evening. He opens it again the next morning.

Young families have been able to use the leisure facility created by Velero since 2020. One exception occurred during the coronavirus pandemic, when a temporary break was imposed on the recommendation of the authorities. It is therefore all the more pleasing that the facility will be open again in time for its one-year anniversary this summer.

For young and old: recreational opportunities in the residential area

Key owner Mr. H. lives with his family not far from the playground in the building complex behind it. From the window, he looks out onto the spacious sandpit, which frames the climbing frames reminiscent of a castle. Various slides, bridges and climbing walls are available to curious children for extensive discovery tours. Parents can relax on the surrounding benches in the shade of the magnificent treetops, provided they don’t have to help out on the swings or seesaws.

The adventure playground in Neschwitzer Straße is the largest of its kind in Kamenz and is therefore a popular destination for young families. Velero thought of both young and old when building the leisure facility. There is a separate play area for younger children. Next to it is a soccer pitch with two goals. If it rains, the fine gravel surface absorbs the moisture so that sports enthusiasts don’t have to take a long break. Those with two left feet can show off their skills at the table football table.

Family-friendly living is a top priority

The support provided by the Velero management team in Lessingstadt is also praised by local resident Ms L.. She and her husband recently moved within Neschwitzer Straße – for the fourth time in almost 50 years. When the children came along, they needed more living space. Once they were on their own two feet, they downsized again. The couple now live in a senior-friendly first floor apartment. All defects were repaired before they moved in, and the bathroom was even re-tiled.

The fact that something is happening in the neighborhood pleases long-time resident Ms L. Of course, she has toyed with the idea of moving closer to the historic old town in the past. After all, Velero Wohnen has over 370 residential units in Kamenz. But the amenities of the building ensemble in Neschwitzer Straße have won her over even after five decades. Shopping facilities, bus stops and doctors’ surgeries are all within walking distance of their rented apartment. And while Mr H. takes his grandchildren to the adventure playground, Ms L. goes to her private recreation center in the gardens across the street.

With the construction of the largest playground in the city of Kamenz, Velero has started its mission to promote family-friendly living in Kamenz. The project also includes measures such as combining neighboring apartments to create attractive apartment sizes for young families.
