Location

Großpostwitz is located in the south-east of the district of Bautzen in a densely wooded area on the edge of the Oberlausitzer Bergland. The municipality, which lies on the River Spree and the B96 federal highway, has a station on the Bautzen-Bad Schandau railroad line, Großpostwitz, which was closed in 2004. The Großpostwitz-Löbau railroad line, which is also disused, branched off at "Abzw Großpostwitz" and can now be used as a cycle path to Löbau. The Spree cycle path from Bautzen to Neusalza-Spremberg also runs through Großpostwitz.
