Location

The Sauerland is a lovable home region with a high quality of life. It's hard to believe, but the Sauerland is the third largest industrial region in Germany with innovative, high-performance companies such as the Veltins and Warsteiner breweries, as well as Falke and Ritzenhoff-Kristall. Many metal and plastics processing companies are based here. Manufacturers of lamps and luminaires from the region present themselves during the Light Week. Education and research are not neglected either. There is a university of applied sciences with research topics on wastewater treatment, sewage treatment plants and the environment, as well as a Fraunhofer Institute. Several initiatives, such as "Heimvorteil" or "urban Sauerland", aim to attract skilled workers to the region. And it is the wonderful nature, mountains, forests and the many sights, the extensive network of cycling and hiking trails that attract tourists. Culture and art can be experienced, for example, in the art summer, at the Sauerland Theater or at the open-air stage in Arnsberg.
